Meet the Team

Meet the veterinary team of Clayburn Pet Hospital in Abbotsford, BC! We’re pleased to provide a variety of services for your pets! Please call us at 604 853 4411 to speak to one of our caring staff members!
Dr. Katz Piller graduated with a degree in veterinary medicine from the University of Saskatchewan, Western College of Veterinary Medicine, in the spring of 1999. She initiated her career by working in both private practice and in an Emergency Hospital for the first couple of years. She worked as a locum veterinarian, filling in for other veterinarians in practices from Winnipeg, MB to Prince Rupert, BC. She brings with her a cumulation of practice ideas from all of these different experiences and has a practice goal to maximize patient care and comfort. From a heating plate to warm IV fluids for small patients to circulating heating pads during surgery, patient care is foremost. Dr. Piller is a strong advocate of continuing education, taking a variety of courses throughout the years including specialty courses in pet dentistry, cruciate surgery, ultrasound and radiology. She encourages her staff to do the same, in order to provide the best patient care possible.
Dr. Piller and her menagerie of pets – Daisy, Annie, Raymond, Buddy, Sebastian, Brosie, Benny and Chilly all live on site at the home attached to Clayburn Pet Hospital. When not with patients, she can often be seen riding her horses, poop-scooping or mowing the lawns!

Jackie Newman is our beloved Hospital Manager with her information to come!

Shay Wangler is our Registered Veterinary Technician who recently graduated from Douglas College in 2022. After years of working at the SPCA and in other clinics, she brought her passion to Clayburn to give every pet the quality care and fear-free experience they deserve. Shay is continuing her education at University of the Fraser Valley to complete her Bachelors in Biochemistry and Diploma in Agricultural Science while hard at work in the back. Her passions in the field include radiography, laboratory work and anesthesia.
When not at work, Shay spends most of her time with her family, friends and many pets - Merida, Tianna, Robbie, Axel, Maggie and Smudge. She loves hiking, painting and reading webcomics in her downtime.

Sarah Burke is our Veterinary Office Assistant who graduated with honours from West Coast College in 2014.  She came to us with almost a decade of experience working in a technician's role throughout emergency and small animal practices in BC, Alberta and Ontario. Her favourite time of day are our surgery mornings; from patient prep and monitoring to recovering pets after their surgeries, she prioritizes your pets' comfort and care.
In her spare time, Sarah enjoys trips to the dog park with her dog Macey, reading a good book on the balcony, and cuddling with her menagerie of cats; Todd, Archie, Spinelli, Seamus, Winona, and Fiona.

Lucas Shunamon is our Technician in Training, who recently graduated as a Veterinary Administrative Assistant in 2022. With his passion for learning, he has applied to the Distance Veterinary Technician Program through Thompson Rivers University to become a technician himself. Growing up, Lucas was always surrounded by pets and he believes that his career shouldn't be any different. He hopes to offer comfort and care to every pet and client that walks through our doors.
In his downtime, Lucas enjoys hiking and working out at the gym.

Katelynn Warren is our welcoming receptionist.  With a love for learning, she is currently enrolled in the Veterinary Assistant program at University of the Fraser Valley. Since she was a little girl, Katelynn's always wanted to work with animals. Pets quickly became her passion and she strives to ensure that every pet is warmly welcomed and has the best possible experience while at our hospital.
In her off-time, Katelynn loves camping with the music blasting, walking her dog Harvey and hanging out with her friends.
